{"id":11951,"date":"2018-10-02T07:38:10","date_gmt":"2018-10-02T14:38:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.asapdrainandplumbing.com\/emergency-plumbing-san-diego-copy\/"},"modified":"2018-10-02T07:38:10","modified_gmt":"2018-10-02T14:38:10","slug":"sewer-cleaning-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asapdrainandplumbing.com\/sewer-cleaning-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Sewer Cleaning Services San Diego County"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Have a sink, tub, or shower that&#8217;s slow to drain?\u00a0 Or that&#8217;s backed up entirely?\u00a0 If more than one fixture is having problems the odds are you need sewer cleaning.\u00a0 For most homes and businesses there&#8217;s a single sewer line that runs from the building to the city sewer main at the street.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not just for toilets.\u00a0 All drains, including most indoor floor drains, connect up to it.\u00a0 That includes bath tubs, showers, clothes washers, and dish washers.<\/p>\n<h2>Sewer Line Problems<\/h2>\n<p>With so much feeding into them, sewer lines are several times larger in diameter than drain pipes (4 to 6 inches versus around 1 1\/2 inch), so clearing a clog requires more than the usual drain snake.\u00a0 In many cases diameter and length are the only difference between sewer &amp; drain cleaning, but sewer line\u00a0cleaning usually presents its own special challenges.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Flushing a single item that shouldn&#8217;t have been flushed can cause an immediate blockage.<\/li>\n<li>Tree roots can infiltrate through the tiniest of openings seeking moisture and nutrients.<\/li>\n<li>Waste and water flows by gravity, not by pressure as in water supply pipes.\u00a0 That makes it easy for any edge or roughness to catch debris, which then accumulates grease, grime, and more debris faster and faster.<\/li>\n<li>Any ground\u00a0shift (or installation error) from an ideal straight slope also makes it much easier for grease and grime to accumulate.\u00a0 Settling or other ground movements\u00a0can also pulled apart or shift joints out of alignment.<\/li>\n<li>Many materials once used just didn&#8217;t stand the test of time.\u00a0 Clay tile is long lasting, but is more easily damaged than modern materials.\u00a0 Cast iron and similar materials corrode, and for a short while even pipes made of paper coated with tar were tried.\u00a0 If your home is relatively new it might still use\u00a0an old sewer line from a previous building.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Property managers and\u00a0restaurant owners\u00a0are all to aware of these problems and often schedule\u00a0preventive maintenance in the form of pre-emptive\u00a0cleaning and\/or inspections, usually about once a year.<\/p>\n<h2>Inspection First<\/h2>\n<p>With all these complicating factors it&#8217;s often best to have a sewer camera inspection prior to actual sewer cleaning.
